I always prefer meat balls but wanted to try with chicken, I bought some minced chicken finally came out with this crispy chicken balls.This dish has small chunks of chicken bites covered in a crispy batter. You can serve it with Sweet and spicy chiili sauce/ Tomato sauce. For sure will be big Hit amongst kids and would be great evening/Party snack.
Ingredients
- Minced chicken - 300 gms
- Onion -1
- Garlic -5 cloves chopped finely
- Ginger -1/2 Cm chopped finely
- Green chilli- 2 ( De seeded and chopped finely)
- Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
- Fennel Powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
- Potatoes - 2 ( Boiled and mashed)
- Spring Onion/Coriander leaves- 1 Sprig,Chopped Finely
- Oil for Frying
- Salt as per taste
Method:
1. In a kadai with little oil,add the fennel powder toss well, now add the finely chopped ginger,garlic followed by onion.
2. When onions become transparent add the minced chicken,fry well until all the water gets absorbed at this stage add the chilli powder,turmeric powder,garam masala powder , salt and lower the temperature and cook the chicken with covered. Occasionally stir to avoid burning.
3. Once the chicken is cooked ,add the mashed potatoes to it and combine well, when the mixture is combined well turn off the heat and add the spring onion.
4. For Chicken balls, In a bowl mix the wheat flour and add little water and mix it to a thick consistency and in another plate spread the bread crumbs.
5. Make small chicken balls, dip it in the wheat flour mix and coat well, then roll nicely in the bread crumbs mixture.
6. Heat the oil in a kadai, when hot add the chicken balls and cook it in the medium heat by turning the balls to get cooked evenly, when it turns to golden brown colour; drain well and place in the tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Chicken Balls are ready, Serve hot with tomato sauce/ chilli sauce
Tips:
1. Put the balls in the hot oil and adjust the flame to medium and cook the chicken balls by turning occasionally with care.
2. If you want the outer layer to be more crispier,go for additional coating. after coating in the bread crumbs coat again in the wheat flour and then bread crumbs.
3. You can make small sized smalls and do a Manchurian gravy and toss this ball into it. Yummy chicken Manchurian balls will be ready in few minutes.
4. Optional choice :You can add your preferred seasoning to the bread crumbs and roll the balls and then fry it for additional flavour and taste.
5.The wheat flour should not be too thick or watery.You can use Maida flour also.
