I'm sharing my favourite Chettinadu pepper chicken gravy recipe here, Chettinadu is well known for its culinary delicacies. Chettinadu dishes are almost hot and spicy and combined with different spices to bring the authentic flavour, I have tried this chettinadu pepper chicken gravy in few restaurants and always wanted to try it in my own kitchen.Finally my search have ended.This has become one of our favorite side dish. You can accompany with sambar rice,Plain rice, Chapatti,Idly, Dosa and Parota.
Preparation time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time : 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
Chicken : 1/4 Kg
Onion :2
Tomatoes: 1
Cinnamon: 1'
Cloves:3
Fennel Seeds:1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves:1 sprig
Chilli Powder :1/2 Tsp
Coriander Power: 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder:1 tsp
Coriander leaves:1 Bunch
Curd: 2 tbsp
Oil:2 tbsp
Salt - for taste
To Grind:
Shallots:10 nos
Fennel Seeds:1 Tsp
Cumin Seeds: 1tsp
Pepper :2 Tbsp
Preparation:
Chop the onions and tomatoes.
In kadai, add little oil and roast fennel,cumin , pepper and add shallots and grind in a mixer to a fine paste.
Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder,curd and salt for 20 minutes.
Method:
1. Take oil in a kadai,when hot add cinnamon,cloves,fennel seeds toss well then add ginger-garlic paste and onions.
2. When onions turns transparent,add the marinated chicken and fry for 2 minutes and then add the chilli powder,coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and fry it until the water from the chicken drys out.now add the grind paste to the chicken.
3.Once the pepper mix combines with the chicken ,now add the tomatoes and water for the chicken to cook. Keep it medium heat and allow it to cook for another 20 minutes or until the chicken becomes tender.
4.Finally add the chopped coriander leaves to it. Hot and spicy chettinadu chicken gravy is ready.

Notes:
1.If you want more more spicy you can additional 1 tsp pepper.
2. I have not added coconut, if you want more gravy you can add little coconut and roast well and grind it along with other ingredients.
3. I have used medium size onion, if it is large then you can use one onion.
